2021: Esparza will serve as a reserve outside linebacker as a walk-on junior in 2021.
2020: Esparza did not see action as a walk-on sophomore reserve outside linebacker in 2020.
2019: Esparza did not see action as a backup inside linebacker as a walk-on redshirt freshman in 2019. He was moved from outside linebacker in 2019 spring drills.
2018: Esparza redshirted as a reserve outside linebacker as a walk-on first-year freshman in 2018.
HIGH SCHOOL: As a 2017 senior outside linebacker and tight end at JSerra Catholic High in San Juan Capistrano (Calif.), he had 23 tackles (with 2 sacks), 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble on defense and 2 receptions for 20 yards (10.0 avg) on offense.
He suffered a dislocated right ankle early in his 2016 junior season and had surgery. Current Trojan Mason Murphy also prepped at JSerra Catholic.
He also was a forward on JSerra Catholic’s basketball team.
He attended Bishop Amat High in La Puente (Calif.) as a 2015 sophomore.
PERSONAL: He is a physics major at USC.
