2021: Jones, who switched from tailback to tight end in the summer of 2021, saw action in 5 games (Notre Dame, Arizona State, UCLA, BYU, California) on special teams as a walk-on senior in 2021. Overall in 2021, he had 1 tackle (versus UCLA). He was slowed in 2021 spring practice while recovering from a 2020 post-season knee ligament injury.
2020: Jones, who was moved from inside linebacker to tailback in the fall of 2020, did not see action as a reserve walk-on senior in 2020.
2019: Jones saw brief action in 1 game (California) in 2019 as a backup inside linebacker as a walk-on junior, but he did not make a tackle. He was USC’s Co-Defensive Service Team Players of the Year.
2018: Jones did not see action as a reserve outside and inside linebacker as a walk-on sophomore in 2018.
BASEBALL: He was on the USC baseball team in the fall of 2016 and 2017 as a lefthanded pitcher but did not continue with the team into either spring.
HIGH SCHOOL: He played offensive and defensive line at De La Salle High in Concord (Calif.), making 16 tackles as a 2015 senior and 21 tackles as a 2014 junior. De La Salle won the CIF North Coast Section title in 2014 and 2015 and the 2015 California state Open Division championship. He was named to the 2015 North Coast Section Outstanding Student-Athlete team.
He also was a pitcher and first baseman on De La Salle’s baseball team, which won the 2016 CIF North Coast Section championship in his 2016 senior season after being runnerup in 2015.
PERSONAL: He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from USC in the summer of 2020 and now is working on a master’s degree in social entrepreneurship with a 3.72 GPA. He made the 2020 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll.
