2021: Otey broke his right wrist in 2021 fall pre-season practice and had surgery, which sidelined him all season as a redshirt sophomore cornerback in 2021.
2020: Otey was a reserve cornerback and special teams performer as a redshirt freshman in 2020. He appeared briefly in 3 games (Arizona, Washington State, UCLA) in 2020 but did not make a tackle.
2019: Otey saw action in 3 games (Arizona, Arizona State, California) as a backup cornerback and on special teams as a first-year freshman in 2019. He made 1 tackle in 2019 (against Ariziona). He was able to redshirt. He had 2019 post-season surgery on his wrist.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2018 PrepStar All-Southeast Region, Tennessean All-Midstate second team and All-Region 3-6A Athlete of the Year as a senior cornerback, safety, running back, wide receiver and quarterback at Blackman High in Murfreesboro (Tenn.). In 2018, he had 5 tackles and an interception on defense, ran for 667 yards on 65 carries (10.3 avg) with 8 TDs, caught 13 passes for 380 yards (29.2 avg) with 5 TDs and completed 8-of-14 passes (57.1%) for 65 yards with a TD on offense and returned 3 punts for 105 yards (35.0 avg) with 1 TD and had a 46-yard kickoff return.
As a 2017 junior, he made All-Region 3-6A as he ran for 131 yards on 21 carries (10.9 avg) with 4 TDs, caught 6 passes for 124 yards (20.4 avg) with 2 TDs and completed a 7-yard pass on offense and made 22 tackles on defense.
He also sprinted (11.06 best in the 100 meters) and long jumped on Blackman’s track team.
He spent his 2016 sophomore season at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville (Tenn.).
