Bio
2022: Gibbs, now back on the offensive line, will battle to work his way into the rotation and contribute on special teams as a sophomore in 2022.
2021: Gibbs began his 2021 first-year freshman season as an offensive lineman, but moved mid-season to the defensive line (he also played on special teams). Overall in 2021 while appearing in USC’s final 8 games (all but San Jose State, Stanford, Washington State, Oregon State), he had 2 tackles, including 1 for a loss of 2 yards. He had a tackle against Arizona and a tackle for loss at Arizona State.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2020 PrepStar All-Western and 2021 MaxPreps All-State second team as a senior offensive guard at St. John Bosco High in Bellflower (Calif.).
As a 2019 junior, St. John Bosco won the state Open Division titles and was named the national champion. Current Trojans Ralen Goforth, Jude Wolfe, Will Rose, Kobe Pepe, Matt Colombo and Terrell Bynum also prepped at St. John Bosco.
PERSONAL: He is an American studies and ethnicity (African American studies) major at USC with a 3.13 GPA. His nickname is Big Max. When he was 13, he was featured in the Netflix show “Coach Snoop,” about rapper Snoop Dogg and his Snoop Youth Football League.
