2020: The experienced Fink, equally effective as a passer and runner, appeared briefly in 1 game (Washington State) as a senior backup quarterback in 2020. He completed his only pass attempt for minus 5 yards against Washington State.
2019: Fink played a significant role as USC’s backup quarterback as a junior in 2019. Overall while appearing in 8 games (Stanford, Utah, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, California, UCLA, Iowa) and starting once (Washington), he completed 58-of-88 passes (65.9%) for 648 yards with 4 TDs and 5 interceptions and he also ran for minus 12 yards on 12 carries (-1.0 avg) with 1 TD. He won USC’s Jack Oakie “Rise and Shine” Award.
He played the final series against Stanford, but did not throw a pass. He stepped in when Kedon Slovis was injured on the second play of the Utah game and he was outstanding, going 21-of-30 for 351 yards with 3 TDs (29, 31 and 77 yards) and 1 interception, all career highs, to earn Manning Award Star of the Week and Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 honors. He started at Washington and hit 19-of-32 passes for 163 yards, with a 44-yard TD, but threw 3 interceptions (2 at the goal line), and he also ran for 7 yards on 6 carries, with a 3-yard TD. He played the last 2 series against Arizona and was 2-of-2 for 15 yards. He came in for a cramping Slovis for 2 series in the second half at Arizona State and was 4-of-6 for 45 yards (directing the Trojans to a field goal). He came in for the final 2 series at California and ran for 3 yards on 2 tries. He played a few plays in the third quarter against UCLA while Slovis recovered from a hit, but did not throw a pass. He filled in when Slovis was injured early in the second half against Iowa and completed 12-of-18 passes for 74 yards with an interception.
2018: Fink served as a backup quarterback as a sophomore in 2018. Overall in 2018 while appearing in 4 games (UNLV, Stanford, Colorado, Utah), he hit 7-of-9 passes (77.8%) for 46 yards with 1 TD and also ran for 24 yards on 7 carries (3.4 avg). He suffered broken ribs at Utah, sidelining him the rest of the season.
He played the last series against UNLV and had 2 rushes for minus 2 yards. He replaced starter JT Daniels for a series at Stanford when Daniels was injured and hit 1-of-2 throws for 3 yards and also had a 5-yard run. He played the final series against Colorado, but did not throw or carry the ball. He filled in for Daniels at Utah when he suffered a concussion and was 6-of-7 for 43 yards with a 3-yard TD and also ran for 21 yards on 4 tries but then suffered broken ribs.
2017: Fink was the backup quarterback as a redshirt freshman in 2017. Overall in 2017 while appearing in 3 games (Oregon State, Notre Dame, Arizona State), he completed 6-of-9 passes (66.7%) for 43 yards, plus he had 7 carries for 82 yards (11.7 avg) with 1 TD.
Against Oregon State in his first collegiate action while playing the game’s final 2 series, he ran for a 51-yard TD on his first career rush (the longest run by a USC quarterback since Carson Palmer’s 54-yarder against California in 2001) and completed a 12-yard pass on his first career aerial (he also added a 1-yard run). He completed 5-of-8 passes for 31 yards and ran for 17 yards on 3 tries while playing most of the fourth quarter at Notre Dame. He played the final series at Arizona State and ran for 13 yards on 2 carries.
2016: Fink, who enrolled at USC in the spring of 2016 after graduating a semester early from high school, redshirted as a first-year freshman quarterback in 2016. He was sidelined for the Stanford, Utah and Arizona State games with a sprained ankle.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2015 Prep Star All-American, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Cal-Hi Sports All-State Medium Schools first team, All-CIF Central Division, San Gabriel Valley Tribune All-Area first team and All-Palomares League Player of the Year as a senior dual-threat quarterback at Glendora (Calif.) High. He completed 87-of-174 passes (50.0%) for 1,258 yards with 15 TDs and 5 interceptions in 2015, rushed for 1,106 yards on 180 carries (6.1 avg) with 17 TDs, had a 36-yard reception, made 6 tackles and 2 interceptions and averaged 36.8 yards on 37 punts (with 12 pinning opponents within the 20-yard line). He suffered a broken rib after the season.
As a junior in 2014, he made Cal-Hi Sports All-State Junior second team as he completed 96-of-165 passes (58.2%) for 1,386 yards with 10 TDs and 3 interceptions and he also ran for 725 yards on 75 carries (9.7 avg) with 10 TDs.
As a 2013 sophomore, he completed 95-of-192 passes (49.5%) for 1,449 yards with 12 TDs and 6 interceptions and he ran for 182 yards on 47 carries (3.9 avg) with 3 TDs. Current Trojan Damon Johnson also prepped at Glendora.
PERSONAL: He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from USC in the summer of 2019 and is now working on a master’s degree in communication management.
