Bio
THIS YEAR: Senior Jan'Taijah Jones is in her fourth season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team. She ranks second on USC's all-time outdoor 400m list and third on the indoor 400m list, as well as running on the fifth and eighth-fastest outdoor 4x400m relays in school history and the fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth-fastest indoor 4x400m relays by a USC quartet.
She finished sixth in the 400m at the NCAA West Prelims with a time of 51.87 on May 28. Placed 22nd at the NCAA Championships in the 400m with a time of 52.26 on June 9 and a leg issue forced her out of the relays. She set a 200m PR of 23.18 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15. Indoors, she placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 51.51 which moved her to third on USC's all-time list.
2021: She won the 400m with a time of 52.65 at the Cal Dual Meet. Placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 52.19 at the Pac-12 Championships. Posted a season-best 400m time of 52.02 to place 14th in the 400m at the NCAA West Prelims. Ran a leg on USC's winning 4x400m relay at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet.
2020:Â Jones did not compete indoors or in the one outdoor meet for the season was shutdown due to COVID-19.
HIGH SCHOOL: Jones is a 2019 graduate of Northeast HS in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.  She had PRs of 51.57 in the 400m and 23.30 in the 200m as a senior, which ranked respectively second and sixth nationally. She was a four-time Florida state champion in the 400m. As a senior she won the state 400m title with a time of 53.23 and the 200m title with a time of 23.45.  She was a high school track All-American and Florida Girls T&F Gatorade Athlete of the Year. She was also named the 2019 Miss Track & Field by the Florida Dairy Farmers.Â
PERSONAL:Â Jan'Taijah was born on March 5, 2001 in Coral Springs, Fla...Her parents are Lacey Johnson and David Jones and her siblings are Ja'Nauris Glass, Ja'Kolbi Jacsaint, Da'Kayla Jones, David Demetrius Jones Jr., David Demari Jones and Harmony Angela Jones...Her hobbies include riding Four-wheelers and dirtbikes, shopping and playing football...Her favorite actors are Denzel Washington and Vin Diesel and her favorite movies are all of the Fast and Furious movies...Lists Allyson Felix as her sports hero...Her favorite foods are crabs and shrimp...Someday would like to travel to Paris...She would like to continue running after USC and become an Olympian...Her major is Sociology.

2023: Jones ran a PR and the second-fastest outdoor 400m time in USC history of 50.31 in the NCAA semifinals on June 8, then placed ninth with a time of 51.15 in the final on June 10 to earn second-team All-America honors…she also earned second-team All-America honors with USC’s 4x100m relay. She won her second consecutive Pac-12 400m title with a time of 50.44 on May 14…she also placed sixth in the 200m at Pac-12s with a time of 23.23, running a PR of 22.99 in the prelims. She won the 400m title with a time of 51.81 at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 30. She earned indoor All-America honors by placing fifth in the NCAA Indoor Championships 400m final with a PR of 51.03, the third-fastest indoor time ever by a Trojan woman. She also earn All-America honors with the 4x400m relay which placed fourth with a time of 3:28.58 at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11, which ranks fifth on USC’s all-time indoor list. During the summer she competed in the 400m at the USATF Championships and then earned a gold medal as part of Team USA in the 4x400m relay at the NACAC U23 Championships held in Costa Rica.
2022: Jones won the Pac-12 400m title with a PR of 51.22 on May 15 which moved her to seventh on USC's all-time list...USC has now won the women's 400m Pac-12 title for five consecutive seasons.
