Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Darius Rainey is in his second year as a middle distance runner for the USC track and field team.
CAREER BESTS: 400m – 45.92 800m – 1:50.02
2023: Rainey was unable to compete outdoors until the Pac-12 Championships on May 13, when he placed 19th in the 800m. He set his 800m PR in placing sixth at the USATF U20 Championships on July 8 with a time of 1:50. 02. During the indoor season Rainey recorded a personal best in the 400m with a time of 47.01 at the New Mexico Classic on Feb. 4. and in the 800m with a time of 1:49.84 at the Husky Classic on Feb. 11.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rainey, from Humble, Texas, is a 2022 graduate of Summer Creek HS in Humble, Texas where he led them to the 2021 and 2022 Texas 6A team title. For the second consecutive season, Rainey won the state 6A 400m and 800m titles. He has PRs of 45.92 in the 400m and 1:50.63 in the 800m. His 400m time ranked fourth in the country and was set while finishing fourth at the USATF U20 Championships.
