GARLAND POSTS TOP BIG TEN DISCUS THROW: Sophomore Reese Garland won the women's discus throw with a PR of 181-11 (55.46m) at the Triton Invitational on April 5. That mark is the best throw in the Big Ten this season and ranks 20th in the country. For her efforts, she was named Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week for April 9. The Oak Park, Ill. native also took second in the discus throw with a mark of 178-1 (54.30m) at the Battle at the Beach on April 4. That mark is the third-best throw by any Big Ten woman this season. Â
THINGS ARE BRIGHT WITH WHYTE: USC sophomore Madison Whyte won the 400m and placed second in the 200m (top among collegians) at the Battle on the Bayou from March 28-29. Whyte placed second in the 200m with a PR and then NCAA-leading time of 22.52 on March 28.
