THIS YEAR:
Freshman Kaden Garland is in his first season as a thrower on the USC track and field team.Â

HIGH SCHOOL:
Garland is a 2024 graduate of Oak Park and River Forest HS in Illinois. He won the Illinois 3A shot put title (12-pound) with a mark of 65-9.50 (20.05m) and placed fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 179-10 (54.83m) to help Oak Park and River Forest capture its first team title at the Illinois state meet since 1987. Both of Garland’s mark at the state meet set school records. Garland also was invited to compete at the Nike Indoor Nationals and New Balance Nationals.

PERSONAL:
Kaden was born on Aug. 10, 2006 in Chicago, Ill…His parents are Ty and Amy Garland and he has two siblings, Reese and Jaida…Reese is also on the USC track and field team…His father was a linebacker on the Michigan State football team and was the 1993 high school shot put national champion...His father was also his throws coach throughout high school……Garland is a Finance  major in the Marshall School of Business  at USC.
