THIS YEAR:
Freshman Ashley Erasmus is in her first season as a thrower on the USC track and field team. She qualified in the shot put to represent South Africa at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Erasmus is a 2023 graduate of Hoerskool Nelspruit School in South Africa. She was the 2024 African Athletics Championships shot put champion with her personal-best of 59-7.50 (18.17m). She also has a PR of 174-2.50 (53.10m) in the discus throw. Erasmus was the shot put champion and placed third in the discus throw at the 2024 South African Championships. She was also the shot put and discus throw champion at the 2023 NWU ACNW Top 30 Athletics Meeting, the 2023 African U20 Championships and the 2023 South African U20 Championships. At the 2023 South African Championships, she won the shot put and placed fourth in the discus throw. Erasmus was the 2022 South African U18 Championships shot put and discus throw champion. She was sixth in the discus throw at the 2021 South African Championships and won the discus throw and placed second in the shot put at the 2021 South African U17 Championship. She was also the 2020 South African U16 Championships discus throw champion.
PERSONAL:
Ashley was born on June 7, 2005 in Pretoria, South Africa…Her parents are Lourens and Angelique Erasmus and she has one brother, Jason…Her hobbies include making clothing, doing nails and shopping…Lists Travis Scott as her favorite musical artist…Her favorite foods are Boerewors, avocado and COFFEE…She says she does not have a sports hero because she just strives to be the best version of herself and not a version of someone else…Would like to travel to any island destination….After USC would like to start a sportswear brand, compete professionally and set the world shot put record… She is undecided upon a major at USC.
