Bio
THIS SEASON: Maddie Meisel is a 2019 redshirt senior in her third season with the Trojans after transferring from Utah. An improving distance swimmers and butterflyer, Meisel can provide scoring depth in some of the more grueling events on the schedule and will continue to contribute to dual meet and, potentially, postseason scoring.
2018: Meisel, as a 2018 redshirt junior, competed in three races at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships, finishing 33rd in the 200y (1:49.42) and 500y free (4:52.75) as well as 40th in the 100y free (51.73). She also led off the 800y free relay with a PR of 1:48.05 … She earned 2018 Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention notice.
2017: Meisel saw early action as a redshirt sophomore in her first year competing for the Trojans, but was sidelined by injury for most of the season.
2016: Meisel competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials before beginning her USC career and was 83rd in the 400m free (4:21.81).
UTAH: Meisel competed in three events for Utah at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships, highlighted by a seventh-place in the 1650y free (16:31.41, PR). She also finished 11th in the 500y free (4:45.12, PR) and 23rd in the 200y fly (2:04.21).
HIGH SCHOOL: Meisel prepped at Milikan High in Long Beach, Calif., where she left as the school record holder in seven events. She overcame freak knee and leg injuries (after tripping over her dog named "Drake") to earn the 2014 Long Beach Press Telegram Dream Team Swimmer of the Year honor. At the 2014 Moore League finals, she broke U.S. Olympian and former Trojan Club Swimmer Jessica Hardy's 200y free mark with a 1:52.18. She then finished her prep career at the CIF Championships with a fourth in the 500y free (4:57.10) and a fifth in the 200 (1:51.23).
