THIS YEAR: Graduate student Karlee Freeman is in her fifth season of competing in the throws for USC. She is the USC women's freshman record-holder in the discus throw and ranks fourth on USC's all-time list. She also ranks ninth on the Trojans' all-time shot put list.Â
2022: She set a discus throw PR of 185-6 (56.61m) to better her fourth-place standing on USC's all-time list at the Triton Invitational on April 8. She won the discus throw with a mark of 174-10 (53.30m) at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1 which helped the Trojans defeat the Bruins...she also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 49-0.75. Finished fourth in the discus throw at the Pac-12 Championships on May 15 with a throw of 181-11 (55.45m). She placed 21st at the West Prelims with a mark of 170-11 (52.10m).
2021: Won the discus throw at the Trojan Invitational, Stanford Invitational and Cal Dual Meet, culminating with a season-best mark of 174-1 (53.06m) at Berkeley. She took second in the hammer throw with a PR of 193-3 (58.90m) at the Beach Invitational. She took second in the discus throw and shot put at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet and was third in the hammer throw. She finished ninth in the shot put, 13th in the hammer throw did not land a legal discus throw at the Pac-12 Championships. Finished 39th in the discus throw at the NCAA West Prelims.
2020: Competed indoors and had PRs of 55-3 (16.84m) in the weight throw and 48-1.25 (14.66m) in the shot put which ranks fifth and seventh respectively on USC's all-time indoor list. She had an outdoor PR of 174-8 (53.23m) to finished sixth in the hammer throw and was fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 159-10 (48.73m) at the Beach Opener, before the rest of the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
2019: She set her then-discus, shot put, hammer and javelin throw PRs during the season. Set the USC freshman discus throw record and posted the fourth-farthest women's discus throw in school history with a mark of 179-5 (54.70m) to win at the Triton Invitational. She set her hammer throw PR with a throw of 143-4 (43.70m) at the Jim Click Shootout. She placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 169-2 (51.56m) at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet...she also scored by placing third in the shot put with a PR of 52-2.00 (15.90m) and third in the javelin throw with a PR of 133-8 (40.74m). Freeman's shot put mark at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet moved her into ninth on USC's all-time list. She placed 31st in the discus throw with a mark of 161-5 (49.21m) at the West Prelims and 46th in the shot put with a mark of 46-4.75 (14.14m). During the summer, she finished 11th in the discus throw with a mark of 151-5 (46.15m) at the USATF U20s.
HIGH SCHOOL: Freeman is a 2018 graduate of Raymond High in Raymond, Wash. She was named the 2018 Washington Girl's Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year, the first for Raymond High. She won the 2018 Class 2B state title in the discus, shot put and javelin and earned eight individual state titles in her high school career: discus (all four years), shot put (as a junior and senior), javelin (as a senior) and 100m hurdles (as a sophomore). She is the Washington 2B state record-holder in the shot put and discus throw. Her discus throw PR of 173-3 ranks second in Washington state high school history and ranked fifth among high school throwers in 2018. She also has a shot put PR of 49-5, a hammer throw PR of 141-7 and a javelin throw PR of 130-11. She was a Junior Olympics age group national champion in 2014, 2017 and 2018. She was an honor roll student all four years of high school. She also competed in basketball and volleyball while in high school.
PERSONAL: Karlee was born on April 7, 2000 in Olympia, Wash…Her parents are Briana and Philip Freeman…She has two brothers, Jayce and Jaxson and two sisters, Karsyn and Kamryn…Her favorite food is Mexican cuisine, especially quesadillas…Her favorite television show is One Tree Hill…Chose USC because of how academically strong the school is and because of throws coach Dan Lange…She leads a Christian bible study for athletes at USC...She received her undergraduate degree from USC in Communication and a master's in Social Entrepreneurship...She is now working on a master's in Human Resource Management.
