Bio
THIS YEAR: Senior Janiah Brown is in her second season as a distance runner for USC. She transfers to USC from Mt. SAC with two seasons of eligibility remaining. She also competes for USC’s cross country team.
2022: Brown set her 400m, 800m and 1500m personal bests, with her 800m and 1500m times ranking second among all Trojan women. Her 400m PR of 56.06 led her to a fifth-place finish at the Stanford Invitational on April 1, her 800m PR was 2:06.04 to place fourth at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15 and her 1500m PR was 4:32.42 to win at the Triton Invitational on April 9. She also competed in USC’s first two cross country meets. She posted a 5K PR of 19.29.6 at the Mark Covert Classic on Sept. 4. She had a time of 22:45.2 at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 18, her first career 6K race. Â
BEFORE USC: Brown competed at Mt. SAC for two seasons. She had an 800m PR of 2:08.01. Finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:15.01 at the 2020 Beach Opener. Took second in the 1500m with a time of 4:55.61 at the 2020 Beach Opener Community College Meet. She also competed in cross country with a best 5K time of 21:33.2 and a best 3.1 mile time of 19:15.3.
HIGH SCHOOL: Brown graduated from Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, Calif. in 2019. She had an 800m best of 2:12.01.
PERSONAL:Â Janiah was born on April 8, 2001...Her parents are Tonetta Cooper and Johnnie Brown...She has four siblings, Jeremiah, Joshua, Tiaria and Talaya...Lists her sports heroes as her uncle Charles White and Allyson Felix
