Bio
THIS YEAR: Graduate transfer Kamryn Elgersma is in her second season as a thrower on the USC track and field team. She was an athletic and academic All-American while competing at Division III Calvin University.
HIGH SCHOOL: She is a 2018 graduate of Arrowhead Christian Academy in Redlands, Calif. She played basketball, averaging 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds as a senior, as well as competing in volleyball and softball. She was a two-time first-team All-League player. She was a Ken Hubbs award winner as a senior in high school, as well as a member of National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation.
PERSONAL: Kamryn was born on December 21, 1999…Her parents are Scott and Kristin Elgersma… Her siblings are Katie Van Koevering, who is married to Cam Van Koevering and has two sons who are Theo and Finn, and Troy Elgersma, who plays Division I soccer at American University. Kamryn earned a degree in Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy from Calvin University and is currently in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at USC and hope to be a sports physical therapist working in professional sports...She also minored in Spanish and lived in Mexico in May of 2022 to finish her program, and flew back from Mexico 2 days before the NCAA Division III Championships...Loves to spend time with her family and getting coffee at local spots...Lists her sports heroes as Naomi Osaka, Sabrina Ionescu, and Lebron James.
CAREER BESTS: JT – 142-9 (43.53m)
2023: Elgersma placed sixth in the javelin throw with a PR of 142-9 (43.53m) at the Aztec Invitational on March 25. She placed third in the event at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 30 with a throw of 137-10 (42.10m). She had a javelin throw of 137-4 (41.87m) to place 15th at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12.
BEFORE USC: Elgersma is a 2022 graduate of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich. Elgersma placed fifth and earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Championships in the javelin throw with a mark of 139-1 (42.40m). She posted a then-PR of 142-7 (43.45m) at the 2022 Jack Shaw Invite. She was a second-team All-American at the 2021 NCAA DIII Championships when she placed 11th in the javelin throw. She was named USTFCCCA All-Region in 2021 and 2022. Elgersma was also a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. She also was a forward on the Calvin basketball team.
