Five Trojans Earn First Team All-American Honors as USC Men’s Track and Field Closes NCAA Championship Run

The Women of Troy will cap off the championships tomorrow
EUGENE, Ore. — The USC men's track and field team closed out the season on Friday at NCAA Championships with 27 points to place tenth overall.
Racquil Broderick and Vincent Ugwoke showed out on the national stage placing second and third, respectively, in men's discus finals. Ugwoke broke Broderick's school record on his first throw of the day at 63.37m (207-11) to advance to finals where he bested the mark at 63.89m (209-7). Broderick didn't let Ugwoke have the record for very long, however, coming in at 64.15m (210-5) on his last throw of the day to reclaim a new school record and national runner-up.
Mico Lampinen joined the discus throwers in finals with a new personal best of 61.89m (203-0) to place eighth, securing first team all-American status as a freshman. His mark comes in at No. 5 on the USC all-time list.
Elias Gerald also put on a dominant performance in the final meet of his collegiate high jump career, achieving first team all-American as well. He cleared the bar at 2.22m (7-3.25) to earn a new season best and place sixth in the nation.
Edward Nketia represented the Trojans on the track side finishing fifth in the 100m in a time of 9.95. In the 200m, he doubled his first team all-American status with a sixth place finish in a new best of 20.19, moving into the USC top-10 all-time.
