HIGH SCHOOL: As a 2012 senior two-way lineman, defensive back and running back at La Jolla (Calif.) High, he made All-Western League first team as he had 61 tackles (with 4 sacks), 1 deflection and 1 fumble recovery on defense and 10 carries for 48 yards (4.8 avg.) with 1 TD on offense.
As a junior in 2011, he had 11 tackles (with 2 sacks) and a fumble recovery.
He also played volleyball at La Jolla, getting 131 kills, 67 blocks and 25 digs as a 2013 senior middle blocker.
He made the Area All-Academic team in both football and volleyball.
