No. 25 Men's Golf Resumes Season at The Desimone Invitational
March 08, 2026 | Men's Golf
The Trojans will square off against three top-10 teams in California's inaugural tournament.
LOS ANGELES — After being away from tournament play for over one month, the No. 25 USC Men's Golf team returns to action at The Desimone Invitational, hosted by the University of California at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, Calif. from March 9-10.
Named after longtime Cal head coach Steve Desimone, the inaugural Desimone Invitational features a field of 15 teams, including top-10 teams No. 4 Texas, No. 9 Arizona State and No. 10 Pepperdine. No. 24 Utah, who USC beat at the Southwestern Invitational, rounds out the field. The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,915-yard Lake Merced Golf Course with 36 holes played Monday and the 18 holes played Tuesday.
In USC's last tournament, the Trojans shook off a difficult first round to tie for fifth at the Southwestern Invitational on Jan. 26-28. Junior Nicolas Dominguez led the Trojans by tying for ninth, which was his second top-10 finish of the season. Sophomore Jack Buchanan — who is coming off winning the Africa Amateur and competing in his first DP World Tour event — tied for 12th place and fired a 66 in the second round to tie his lowest round of the season. Jaden Dumdumaya rounded out USC's top-30 finishers by placing 30th.

HEAR FROM THE LINEUP:
Freshman Raghav Gulati: "My game is in a really good place after five rounds of qualifying at five tough golf courses. I'm feeling good and feeling ready to compete on Monday. For the group, a win would be helpful. For me personally, going into this event and using all of my stuff that I've been working over the last month is the goal. A top 10 or 20 finish would be nice, but I want to stick to my routines, use what I've been working on and do my best out there."
Senior Antonio Safa: "Personally, I've been focusing on my swing and getting a little more consistency. We've been very competitive even though we haven't played in a tournament. We're just working on being competitive and focusing on the next tournament."
Sophomore Jack Buchanan: "What I learned about professionals at the DP World Tour is about how much they grind. In a professional tournament, one shot can drop you down 30 or 40 places where in college golf it usually drops you 10-15 places. Each shot is more prominent than it is in college golf, so if I can keep fighting for every shot for the rest of the season it will be beneficial in every tournament I play in."
Junior Nicolas Dominguez: "In the last tournament, I played pretty stable and pretty solid. I just want to keep building on that momentum going into this tournament and feel like I'm doing the right stuff."
Redshirt Senior Luke Stock: "Staying fresh and staying ready is going to be of key importance. We have a lot of tournaments coming up back-to-back, so we're getting our bodies in the right shape and feeling mentally ready and fresh for each event."
