USC Men’s Golf Finishes Season at the NCAA Championships
May 31, 2026 | Men's Golf
The Trojans complete the program’s first NCAA Championship appearance in seven years with a final round 293 (+5).
CARLSBAD, Calif. — The USC Men's Golf Team's historic season ended after the third round of the NCAA Championships, held at The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. on Sunday, May 31.
The Trojans missed the first cut and placed 29th out of 30 teams with an 890 (+26) total, putting an end to one of the best seasons in recent history. USC won four team tournament titles, which was the most in a single season since 2017, and was one win away from tying the single-season program record. Earlier in the season, they shot the second-best 54-hole tournament score in program history and also set the all-time low 54-hole individual tournament score. They also had two First Team All-Big Ten athletes in Jaden Dumdumaya and Jack Buchanan, as well as Big Ten Player of the Year, Jaden Dumdumaya. The Trojans also returned to the NCAA Championship finals for the first time since 2019 and for the program's first appearance under third-year Head Coach Mark Hankins.
"We had an amazing year full of accolades and we were full of confidence coming into this week," Hankins said. "We started out a little nervy and the wind ate us up on the back nine. Our inexperience on this golf course compared to the other teams that have been here the past two years showed with some big numbers. We continued to grind, but never really got anyone going to pull the ship. Consider it a learning moment for the four guys returning. We had a lot of support and USC fans were happy to see us at NCAAs again. We can and will be better next time around."
Sophomore Jaden Dumdumaya led the Trojans by tying for 72nd out of 150 golfers with a 220 (+4) total. He was one of two Trojans to have a round at par or better on Sunday with a 72 (E). Dumdumaya found trouble with three bogeys in the first 14 holes before lowering his score with three birdies in the final four holes.
The Trojan with the best round of the day was Luke Stock, who subbed in and fired a 71 (-1) in his final collegiate round. Stock had two bogeys and two birdies on the front side before lowering his score under par with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-5 No. 10. He found trouble with one final bogey on No. 13, but brought his score under par once again with a birdie on the short par-3 No. 16.
Fellow sophomore Jack Buchanan tied for 98th place with a 222 (+6) total. Buchanan began the round with two birdies in his first six holes, however, a double-bogey on No. 7 and a bogey on No. 8 brought his score over par for the remainder of the round. He finished with two birdies, four bogeys and one double-bogey in his final-round 76 (+4).
Senior Antonio Safa played the final round of his collegiate career on Sunday and was USC's third scorer with a 223 (+7) total. Safa had two birdies and two bogeys on the front side before lowering his score with a birdie on the par-5 No. 10 after making the turn. However, Safa found trouble on the back side with three bogeys to finish with a 74 (+2).
Rounding out the Trojans, freshman Raghav Gulati placed 140th with a 230 (+14) total after firing a 76 (+4) in the final round.
