Women of Troy Set to Open 2017 Campaign

The Trojans will start the 2017 season on the road against Loyola Marymount on Friday
LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team opens its 2017 season with three matches as part of a jointly-hosted tournament with Loyola Marymount this weekend. The Women of Troy will face LMU at 11 a.m. PT on Friday (Aug. 25) and then returns Galen Center for an 8 p.m. match against 16th-ranked Michigan. The Trojans and the Wolverines will be shown live on Pac-12 Los Angeles. On Saturday (Aug. 26), USC completes its opening weekend with a 1 p.m. match against Albany at Galen Center. LMU will host matches against Michigan and Albany at Gersten Pavilion for a total of six matches between the two host schools.
The Women of Troy are 34-7 all-time in season-opening matches and have never lost in eight all-time meetings against the Lions. USC is also unblemished against Albany (1-0) and will meet Michigan for the first time in program history.
USC returns All-Pac-12 sophomore OH Khalia Lanier and a host of offensive weapons including senior OPP Brittany Abercrombie, junior OH Alyse Ford, and senior OH Niki Withers, but must replace the talented trio of 2016 graduates Elise Ruddins, Taylor Whittingham, and Alice Pizzasegola.
