THIS YEAR: Junior Max Thomas is in his third year as a sprinter for the USC track and field team. He ranks tied for 10th on USC's all-time 100m list and tied for ninth on the school's all-time outdoor 200m list. He also ranks seventh on USC's all-time indoor 200m list. Thomas ran a leg on USC's second- and eighth-fastest 4x100m relays in school history.
2024: Thomas reached the NCAA semifinals in the 100m and 200m races to earn All-America honorable mention. He ran the second leg on USC's 4x100m relay with ran 38.54 in the NCAA semifinals on June 5, second-fastest time on the Trojans' all-time list....the team DQ's in the finals. He ran a wind-aided career best 10.02 (+2.6w) in the 100m at the NCAA West Prelims on May 24…he also set his 200m PR of 20.28 (+1.4) that day to move into a ninth-place tie on USC’s all-time list in the event. He placed second in the 100m with a PR of 10.13 (+0.5) and in the 200m with a wind-aided time of 20.28 (+2.2w) at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12…his 100m time moved him into a 10th-place tie on USC’s all-time list. He also ran the second leg for USC’s winning 4x100m relay which ran 38.84 and the third leg on the Trojans’ 4x400m relay which placed fifth with a time of 3:06.93 at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12. Thomas won the USC-UCLA Dual Meet 100m title with a time of 10.33 (-0.4) on April 28. After the season, Thomas competed in the 100m and 200m races at the U.S. Olympic Trials and reached the semifinals in both events. Thomas competed in six meets during the indoor season. He posted indoor season bests of 6.74 in the 60m at the Spokane Sports Showcase on Jan. 12 and 20.75 in the 200m at the Arkansas Qualifier Meet on Feb. 16. He won the 200m dash with a time of 21.03 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Feb. 23.
PERSONAL: Max was born February 24, 2004 in Santa Monica, Calif…His parents are Amarri Simms and Brandon Thomas…He enjoys playing video games in his free time…Lists NBA Legend Kobe Bryant as his biggest sports hero… Aspires to coach track and field at a high level… He is majoring in Communication.

2023: Thomas competed in seven indoor meets before injury caused him to miss the outdoor season. Thomas set his 60m PR of 6.73 to place second at the Cougar Classic on Jan. 13. He ran his indoor 200m PR of 20.67 to win at the Arkansas Qualifier on Feb. 17, to move to seventh on USC’s all-time indoor 200m list. He also won the 200m at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Jan. 17 with a time of 20.96. Thomas returned to place eighth in the 200m at the USATF U20 Championships on July 9 with a time of 21.34 (+0.0).
HIGH SCHOOL: Thomas, from Long Beach, Calif., is a 2022 graduate of Servite HS in Anaheim, Calif. He has a 100m PR of 10.35w/10.40 and 20.68 in the 200m, which ranked seventh nationally. He finished third at the CIF State Championships with a time of 10.44 (+2.5w).
