2024: Brackins Jr. won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.52 (-1.8) and placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 24-11.75/7.61 (-0.6) at the Pac-12 Championships from May 10-12. He went on to place fourth in the long jump and ninth in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn first-team All-America honors in the long jump and second-team in the hurdles. Brackins Jr. then placed fourth in the long jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials with a personal-best jump of 26-9.75/8.17m (+1.9) which moved him into fifth place on USC’s all-time list. He ran a 110h hurdles PR of 13.37 (+0.2) in the NCAA Championships semifinal which moved him to second on USC’s all-time list. He placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.57 and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 26-3.50 (8.01m) to earn All-America honors in both events at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9. Brackins Jr. also set the school record in the indoor long jump with a leap of 27-0.00 (8.23m) to win the event at USATF Indoor Championships on Feb. 17, breaking the record which had stood for 34 years. Brackins Jr. also ran 7.55 in the 60m hurdles to win at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Feb. 23, moving into second on USC’s all-time 60m hurdles list.Â
2023: Brackins Jr. won the Pac-12 long jump title on May 13 with a wind-aided PR of 27-2.75/8.30m (+4.0w). He also matched a season best with a jump of 26-4.25/8.03m (+0.9) in the long jump rounds at Pac-12s, which ranks fifth on USC’s all-time long jump list. He also placed second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.75 (-1.3) at the Pac-12 Championships. Brackins Jr. also led off for USC’s winning 4x100m relay and was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Meet as he earned 22.0 points. He reached the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds and competed at the USATF Championships in the long jump. He advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in the 110m hurdles, running a PR of 13.51 (+1.7) in the Quarterfinals. He ranked second in the 60m hurdles enters the NCAA Indoor Championships, running 7.60 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance and Arkansas Qualifier meets, which ranks tied for second on USC’s all-time 60m H list. He earned All-America honors indoors in the long jump with an indoor PR of 26-9.25/8.16m to place fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships. He also set his 60m PR of 7.61 in the semifinals at the Tiger Paw Invite.
HIGH SCHOOL:Â He was a four-year letterwinner at Lee's Summit High School. 2x long jump state champion and class record holder. 3x all-state in the 110m hurdles - 2018 (7th), 2019 (2nd), 2021 (Champion and state record). 2x all-state triple jump - 2019 (2nd), 2021 (Champion). Gatorade Track & Field Player of the Year for Missouri... USA Today nominee for track & field. Member of the principal's honor roll all four years. Maintained a 4.0 GPA and earned an academic letter in seven different semesters.
PERSONAL: Johnny was born July 29, 2003 in Kansas City, Mo… His parents are Johnny and Pamela Brackins, and he is one of four siblings with Mariah, Amore and Dorian…Enjoys gaining knowledge through exploring foreign languages, documentaries and studying interior design…Aspires to become a medical lawyer after graduating from USC… Majoring in Psychology and minoring in French.
