Individually, Lin tied for sixth at 4-over 75 … Lin, who was named to the 2020 Arnold Cup International side, overcame a two-shot deficit in regulation and then won a two-hole playoff to capture the 2019 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championships at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China, on Sept. 19. Lin became just the second two-time winner of the event while earning berths into the 2020 Masters and Open Championships … Lin played in the PGA LatinoAmerica’s Alpharetta Classic where he was low amateur, tying for fourth at 15-under 201 (67-69-65). In November, he played in his second career Masters, finishing at 8-over 152 (79-73). He posted an eagle on 15 in the first round and closed with a par back 9 in the second, though he missed the cut. Ahead of that, he played in the Azalea Invitational, where he tied for eighth at 3-under 281 (66-75-70-70). Lin transferred out of USC in December of 2020.
AMATEUR CAREER: Lin comes to USC with a host of international experience at the game's highest levels, having played in more than 40 pro events. He then duplicated the feat shortly after beginning school at USC, becoming just the second two-time winner of the event and doing so on home soil in Shanghai. He earned exemptions again into the 2020 Masters and Open Championships. Lin, who won the 2015 China Amateur Futures Tour Final, tied for ninth at the 2018 Asia-Pacific Amateur and also played in 2018 at the Volvo China Open and the Maybank Championship.
