THIS SEASON: Junior Tyler Guo, a key starter for USC as a sophomore, returns as an improving upperclassmen who will be relied upon for key scoring as a 2022 junior ... He made a pair of appearances in the 2021 Fall, his best finish a tie for 63rd at the Marquette Invitational.
2021: Guo, as a 2021 sophomore, started all eight tournaments in which he played, highlighted by a career-best second-place tie. He finished with a 74.72 stroke average (which saw 19 counting rounds) and three rounds under par, all in his career-best effort at the Amer Ari Invitational. There, he tied for second at 7-under 209 (68-68-71), his first two rounds matching his career-best effort … Guo was named a 2021 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, boasting a 3.51 cumulative GPA as a business administration major, and was also part of the 2021 Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2020: Guo saw action in six events as a 2020 freshman, finishing with a 76.28 stroke average. He registered a season-best tie for 17th at the Prestige Individual Invitational at 2-over 218 (80-68-70), his second round a season-best effort. His other sub-70 round was a 69 in the final round of the Southwestern Invitational … At the 2020 SCGA Amateur, Guo tied for 24th at par 280 (70-68-76-66).
HIGH SCHOOL: Guo prepped at Crean Lutheran High in Irvine, Calif., where he was the 2018 Orange County Register Golf Athlete of the Year. He posted 10 top 10 finishes and 13 in the top 15 in from 2017-19, including a pair of 2017 wins on the SCPGA Toyota Tour at Oak Valley and Olivas Links … He tied for eighth this year at the 2018 SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Invitational as well as at the AJGA Lizette Salas Junior Championship. Guo, in May of 2019, won the CIF-Southern Section Southern Individual Regional, the SCGA So Cal Championship and the CIF State title.
PERSONAL: He is a business administration major.
