THIS SEASON: Nikolai Syssoev is a up-and-coming sprinter who should challenge for a dual meet role in the 50y and 100y free and could contribute at the Pac-12s as well.
HIGH SCHOOL: Syssoev, from Newton, Mass., has been a top swimming prospect from an early age and was ranked second in the country in both the 100y and 500y free as a 10-years-old. Syssoev competed at the 2016 NCSA Championships, finishing sixth in the 50y free (20.52) and in the top 15 in the 100y free ... In 2015, Syssoev swam at the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals-East and placed third in both the 50y free (20.34) and 100y free (44.57).
CLUB: Gator Swim Club team.
PERSONAL: Syssoev, born on Feb. 17, 1998, is a business administration major.
