Bio
THIS SEASON: Jordan Gear, a 2015 senior, is a three-time career Pac-12 finalist, a seven-time Zone E finalist and is one of Troy's top student-athletes. Returning for his final year as a steady dual-meet and post-season scorer, he is gunning for his first NCAA Championships appearance.
2014: Gear made his first career Pac-12 final on 1-meter as a 2014 junior, taking eighth with 304.40 points. He just missed his third straight final on platform, finishing ninth (269.35). He was also 15th on 3-meter (299.05) ... He made his second finalist appearance on platform at the Zone E Championships, finishing sixth with 661.84 points. He was also a finalist on 3-meter, taking 16th, and was 24th on 1-meter ... Gear was named to CoSIDA's 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 8 at-large team and also earned Pac-12 All-Academic first team honors with a 3.90 GPA in Cinematic Arts.
2013: Gear repeated as a fourth-place finisher on platform at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships as a sophomore with 311.00 points. He placed ninth on 3-meter (317.20) and 11th on 1-meter (310.60) ... Gear just missed earning a trip to the NCAAs, finishing seventh on 3-meter at the 2013 Zone E Championships (684.00). He was ninth on platform (586.45) and 1-meter (625.10) ... He earned 2013 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team honorable mention honors.
2012: Gear was a Pac-12 finalist on platform as a 2012 freshman, finishing fourth in the event with 298.95 points. He was also 11th on 3-meter (274.90) and 13th on 1-meter (256.55) ... At the 2012 Zone E Championships, he finished sixth on platform with 641.65 ... He earned 2012 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team first team honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: Gear graduated from Landon School in Bethesda, Md., where he eared The Washington Post's 2010-11 Winter All-Met Team honorable mention honors. A 2010-11 NISCA/Speedo Boys One Meter Diving All-American, he won first place in the 2011 Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim Dive League Championships while breaking the Landon school record by 55 points ... He also won first place at the 2011 Northern Region diving championships with a score of 499.70 ... He was named as an "Extraordinary Teen" in the March/April 2011 of Bethesda Magazine based on his diving skills and other accomplishments ... Was editor in chief of his school's yearbook as a senior.
CLUB/COACH: Montgomery Dive Club/Doug Beavers.
PERSONAL: He was born on Sept. 4, 1992 ... Gear is pursuing a double major of French and Cinematic Arts Critical Studies and boasts a 3.89 GPA. In addition to French, Gear also speaks Spanish and Italian. He recently enrolled in USC's famed School of Cinematic Arts with hopes to pursue a career as a film director.
