THIS SEASON: A talented breaststroker and an improving sprint freestyler, Andrew Malone is a 2015 senior co-captain looking to build on a breakthrough season in 2014 in which he was an NCAA performer and a Pac-12 finalist. He is tied as USC[apos]s fifth-fastest swimmer in the 100y breast. 2014: Malone made his NCAA Championships debut as a 2014 junior, taking 36th in the 200y breast (1:57.89, PR) and 37th in the 100y breast (54.21) ... He was a first-time Pac-12 Championships finalist, finishing fourth in the 100y breast in 53.23 after a PR 53.22 in prelims. He was also 14th in the 200y breast (1:58.43) ... He earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors. 2013: Malone competed in three events at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships, taking 10th in the 100y breast (54.14, PR), 11th in the 200y breast (1:59.18) and tied for 32nd in the 50y free (20.90). His 1:58.20 in the 200y breast prelims was a PR ... He was a `C[apos] finalist in the 200y breast at the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals and raced in the 100y breast ... He earned CSCAA Scholar All-American honorable mention honors. 2012: Malone finished 10th in both the 100y (55.29) and the 200y breast (2:00.11) as a freshman at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships. He was also 39th in the 50y free. His 1:59.18 in the 200y breast led all USC swimmers in 2012 ... At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, Malone was 94th in the 100m breast.

HIGH SCHOOL: Malone prepped at University School in Kirtland, Ohio, where he was a two-time 100y breast state champion (Division II) as a junior and senior and also won the 50y free as a senior and was twice the state[apos]s and his school[apos]s MVP ... Malone, who also led his school to three state titles in both the 200y free and medley relays, was the 2010 Cleveland Plain Dealer Swimmer of the Year and named to the 2011 Cleveland Plain Dealer Boys Swimming All-Star team.
