THIS SEASON: Melissa Bergesen enters her second and final season at USC.
2015: Bergesen was the team’s fifth leading scorer with 37 goals in her first season as a Trojan... Named to MPSF All-Newcomer Team... Scored in 18 games with 10 multiple-goal efforts... Set career high with six goals scored vs. Cal State East Bay... A member of the 2015 NCAA Tournament roster.
NATIONAL TEAMS: Bergesen has been a member of the U.S. Junior National Team and the U.S. Youth National Team... Competed at the 2013 Youth World Championships in Perth, Australia... Scored two goals in the bronze-medal game... Also competed at an event in Hungary with the Youth National Team.
AT GWC: Bergesen played two seasons at Golden West College... Named Orange Empire MVP... Won back-to-back California State Championships... An honor student.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bergesen was a three-time state MVP out of Kearns High in Salt Lake City, Utah... Won four state championships... An honor student... Played club for Kearns Water Polo Club and SoCal Water Polo Club.
PERSONAL: Bergesen is majoring in sociology and hopes to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner... Parents are Bret and Annette... Has one brother, Mitchell, and two sisters, Christie and Annika... Sister Annika played water polo at UC Irvine... Enjoys going on day surfing trips to San Onofre with her sister and friends... Lists her uncle Robert Wiklund, who competed in karate in Sweden, as her biggest sports hero... Her cousin Kevin Wiklund also competed internationally in karate... Has always wanted to backpack in Europe.. Hopes to travel to Greece and Thailand... Born July 8, 1994.
