Four From USC Water Polo Named To Academic All-District Team

LOS ANGELES - The USC water polo teams had four student athletes named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team as announced on Tuesday, June 16.
Rachel Gazzaniga, Maggie Johnson and Anna Reed were named to the Women's At-Large Team while Andrej Grgurevic was named to the Men's At-Large Team.
The USC women's water polo team won the program's eighth National Championship with a 10-9 victory over California. The Women of Troy finished with a record of 25-3 and went undefeated in conference action.
On the men's side, the Trojans finished as the national runners-up and posted a 23-4 record. The USC men's water polo team became the first team in MPSF history to win four straight conference tournament titles.
Gazzaniga collected All-America honors for the third straight year, being named to the Second Team. She drew a team-high 39 exclusions and scoring 42 goals. The junior out of North Tustin, Calif. contributed 28 assists for 70 total points, good for fifth on the USC squad. Gazzaniga added 22 steals and 12 blocks to the stat sheet for USC. Gazzaniga also took home All-MPSF First Team and NCAA Tournament Second Team accolades. She was also named to the MPSF All-Academic Team and Academic All-Big Ten Team.
Johnson, a three-time captain, capped off her USC career with her first career All-America honors. The 2026 All-America Honorable Mention led the MPSF in assists with 58 total assists and tacked on 27 goals. Johnson recorded 20 steals and six blocks on defense while leading the Trojans to a National Championship to round out her water polo career. She became the first USC student-athlete and first water polo player to receive the Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award. Johnson also received the 2026 NCAA Postgraduate scholarship and was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team and Academic All-Big Ten Team.
Reed made a massive impact in the cage for the Trojans at the NCAA Championship. The redshirt sophomore tallied 33 saves in the NCAA Tournament and held opponents to single digit scoring in two of the three games. Reed recorded 206 saves in goal, becoming the 10th Trojan goalkeeper to surpass 200 career saves. The 206 saves was also the 13th most in a single season. Reed was named to both the MPSF All-Academic Team and Academic All-Big Ten Team.
Grgurevic served as a team captain in his final season with the Trojans. The senior utility player scored 28 goals and added 30 assists on the offensive end. On defense, Grgurevic racked up 14 steals and 12 field blocks for USC. Grgurevic was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team and Academic All-Big Ten Team.
