2023: Jackson, a Trojan legacy, will look to contribute at wide receiver as a redshirt senior in 2023.
2022: Jackson saw action in 13 games as a senior in 2022. He contributed to the USC receiving corps and special teams. He had 1 catch for 3 yards in the Cotton Bowl against Tulane.
2021: Jackson, who has strong USC bloodlines, was a contributor at wide receiver as a junior in 2021. Overall in 2021 while appearing in 10 games (all but Arizona State and BYU), he had 3 catches for 16 yards (5.3 avg). He had 2 receptions for 12 yards at Washington State and a 4-yard catch at California. He missed the Arizona State game with a hamstring strain.
2020: Jackson was a backup wide receiver and played on special teams as a sophomore in 2020. Overall in 2020 while appearing in all 6 games, he had a 23-yard catch (at Arizona).
2019: Jackson, who enrolled at USC in the spring of 2019 after sitting out the 2018 football season while a part-time student at a junior college, saw action as a backup wide receiver as a first-year freshman in 2019. He appeared in 11 games (all but Fresno State and Washington), but did not catch a pass.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2017 South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area second team as a senior wide receiver at Serra High in Gardena (Calif.). In 2017, he caught 63 passes for 573 yards (9.1 avg) with 2 TDs and completed a 10-yard pass.
As a junior in 2016, he had 32 receptions for 411 yards (12.8 avg) with 6 TDs and also ran 10 yards on 6 carries (1.7 avg) and completed a 3-yard pass. Current Trojan Max Williams also prepped at Serra.
He also played baseball (infield, pitcher) at Serra, hitting .449 with 2 home runs, 16 RBI and 7 stolen bases and posting a 4-3 record with a 2.91 ERA and 29 strikeouts as a 2018 senior (he made 2018 All-CIF Division 3 and South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area), hitting .574 with 20 RBI and 8 stolen bases and posting a 1.75 ERA with 17 strikeouts as a 2017 junior (he made 2017 MaxPreps All-State Medium School second team, All-CIF Division 4 and South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area) and hitting .368 as a 2016 sophomore.
He spent his 2014 freshman and 2015 sophomore footballs seasons at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana (Calif.). Current Trojans Solomon Tuliaupupu, Clyde Moore, Raesjon Davis, Kyron Hudson, Josiah Zamora, Domani Jackson and Raleek Brown also prepped at Mater Dei.
PERSONAL: He earned his bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Development at USC with a minor in Entrepreneurship in the spring of 2022. He is now pursuing his master’s degree in Entrepreneurship with a 3.47 GPA. His father, John Jr., set USC’s career pass receptions record (163 catches) as a 4-year (1986-89) wide receiver, earning All-Pac-10 first team honors as a 1989 senior on the Rose Bowl champion Trojans and also being named a 2-time (1988-89) Academic All-American (he also won an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 1989) before playing in the NFL with the Phoenix Cardinals (1990-92) and Chicago Bears (1996) and also starring in baseball at USC as an outfielder (1988-90), setting the school career mark for stolen bases (54) and leading the team in hitting in 1989 (.356) when he made All-Pac-10 first team before playing minor league baseball (1990-95); he then became a sports broadcaster, including analyst (2012-20) and sideline reporter (2003-11) duties on USC’s football radio and high school football coverage on FOX Sports West (in a well-documented story, his announcing was limited in 2019, 2020 and 2021 while recovering from a late 2018 stroke). His grandfather, John Sr., was USC’s running backs coach and offensive coordinator for 6 seasons (1976-81), helping Charles White (1979) and Marcus Allen (1981) win Heisman Trophies as the Trojans won 3 Rose Bowls; he also coached at Hofstra (1968-69), Dartmouth (1970)), Illinois (1971-75) and UNLV (1999-2004) and worked 17 years with California Sports for Jerry Buss (running Forum Boxing and helping develop the Prime Ticket sports cable network). His sister, Simone, is a freshman on the USC women’s soccer team. His aunt, Tracie, was employed at USC.
