THIS YEAR: Senior Brendon Stewart is in his fifth season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team. He has run the second leg for USC's first, second and fourth-fastest 4x100m relays of all time. He also ranks fifth on USC's all-time indoor 60m dash list. Â
2022: He was part of USC's school record-setting 4x100m relay that ran 38.49 to win the NCAA title on June 10. He reached the NCAA semifinals in the 100m dash where he posted a time of 10.33(-0.1). Set his 100m PR of 10.16 (+0.6) to advance out of the NCAA West Prelims 10th on May 27. He placed fifth in the 100m with a time of 10.29 (+0.7) to place fifth on May 15...also ran on USC's winning 4x100m relay which had a time of 38.60 which was at the time the USC record. Set his 200m PR of 20.84 (-0.4) in placing second at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1. Indoors, finished sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.64 on March 12...in the semifinals the day before he matched a personal best of 6.58.
2021: He battled through injuries to become a key member of the 4x100m relay which won the Pac-12 title with a time of 39.65 and they placed tied for 10th at the NCAA Championships with a time of 39.23. He tied for 10th in the 100m at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 10.49 (+1.2). Set his indoor 60m and 200m PRs, running 21.05 in the 200m to take third at the Matador Qualifier and matched a career indoor-best of 6.58 to win the 60m at the Texas Tech Shootout.
2020: He had a PR of 21.18 in the 200m at the Texas Tech Invitational to better his 10th-place standing on USC's indoor list. Also, had a 60m PR of 6.58 at the Tiger Paw Invitational to take over sole possession of third place on USC's indoor list. Took third with a time of 6.64 in the 60m dash at the MPSF Championships. Did not compete outdoors before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
2019: Stewart placed fourth in the 100m dash at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 10.35 (+0.2) and sixth in the 200m with a PR of 21.03 (+0.3). He set his 100m PR of 10.31 (+1.9) at the NCAA West Prelims. He ran 10.44 (+1.1) to place 20th in the NCAA 100m dash quarterfinal. He has a time of 21.00 (+2.4w) to finish 26th in the 200m dash at the NCAA West Prelims. During the indoor season, he won the MPSF 60m title with a USC freshman-record time of 6.60, which ranks tied for third on USC's all-time list. He had a time of 21.26 in the 200m at the Texas Tech Classic which ranks 10th on USC's all-time list. He finished 14th in the 60m dash at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 6.67.
HIGH SCHOOL: Stewart is a 2018 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High in Hyattsville, Md. He had a huge indoor season, ranking second in the country in the 60m dash with a time of 6.66 and tied for fourth in the 55m dash with a time of 6.28. He won 55m races at the 2018 Virginia Showcase (6.35) and the 2018 Millrose Games (6.34). He also ranked seventh indoors in the 300m with a time of 33.86 which he ran in winning at the Virginia Showcase. He has outdoor PRs of 10.69 in the 100m and 21.42 in the 200m. He did not run track in his first two seasons of high school. He was a National Honor Society student.
PERSONAL:Â Brendon was born on July 29, 2000 in Washington, D.C...His parents are Monique & Ernest Todd Stewart...He has one brother, Christian, and one sister, Alexa...His father ran track for The United States Air Force Academy...Says his biggest sports hero is Jackie Robinson because he paved the way for African Americans in all sports...In his spare time he likes to play basketball, lacrosse, mountain bike & follow the Philadelphia Eagles...His favorite movies are Everything is Everything and The Amazing Spider-Man:into the Spider-Verse and his favorite television shows are Diesel Brothers, Euphoria and Black-ish...His favorite musical artists are Frank Ocean, Giveon, 2Pac, Jhene Aiko, SZA, Brent Faiyaz, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Key Glock,Lil Baby, Daniel Caesar, Shy Glizzy, and Gunna...Volunteers at S.O.M.E (So Others Might Eat)....He earned a degree in Communication and is now working on a certificate in Gerontology.
