USC Women's Volleyball Visits Great Lakes State to Close Regular Season
November 23, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
The Trojans will spend Thanksgiving in the state of Michigan with matches against the Spartans and the Wolverines
LOS ANGELES – USC (22-6, 13-5 Big Ten) concludes the regular season with a trip to the Great Lakes State to face Michigan State (18-10, 8-10) on Wednesday (Nov. 26) and then sandwiches the Thanksgiving holiday with a Friday (Nov. 28) meeting with Michigan (21-8, 11-7). Both matches will be shown live on Big Ten Plus streams. The Women of Troy have won 11 of their last 12 and seek to close the regular season with up to four straight wins. The Trojans' next win would set a new single-season mark for victories under sixth-year head coach Brad Keller and would be the most by a USC team since 2017 when that squad earned 25 wins and advanced to the NCAA regional championship in Hall of Fame head coach Mick Haley's final season on the bench.
Â
LAST TIME OUT: USC responded after having a nine-match win streak halted by No. 1-ranked Nebraska with a resounding 3-1 win over Oregon in Eugene. It was the Trojans' first road win over the Ducks since 2019 and the first under head coach Brad Keller. Each of the first three sets went into extra points before USC closed out a hard-fought 31-33, 28-26, 28-26, 25-19 win. London Wijay tallied her sixth double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs against Oregon and Mia Tvrdy had 13 kills in her return to Matthew Knight Arena. Three days later, USC completed the regular-season home slate with a 3-0 sweep of Illinois. The Trojans hit .337 and got 11 kills from Adonia Faumuina, eight from Rylie McGinest, and eight more from Abigail Mullen. In both matches, USC logged 11.5 blocks for the team's 14th and 15th matches in double-digit blocks this season.
Â
AVCA POLL POSITION: The Trojans open the 2025 season ranked No. 21 in the AVCA coaches' poll—the same position it held to open the 2024 season. Overall, USC has appeared in the coaches' poll 556 times, which ranks sixth all-time. The Women of Troy have held a spot among the poll's top 10 teams 317 times, which ranks eighth all-time, and the Trojans have held the No. 1 ranking 47 times for seventh all-time. Since 1982—the year of the poll's inception—USC has appeared in the final poll 35 of 42 times with 18 finishes in the top 10; 12 in the top five, and twice as the No. 1-ranked team (2002, '03).
Â
ONCE AROUND THE BLOCK: USC's 280.5 total blocks leads all Big Ten teams and its 2.75 blocks per set ranks first in the league and is 15th nationally. USC posted 16.0 blocks in a win over Loyola Marymount (Aug. 31) and has reached double-digit blocks 15 times. In 2024, USC reached double-digit blocks 20 times in 32 matches including season highs of 19.5 blocks twice: vs. Kansas State (Sept. 6) and vs. Loyola Marymount (Sept. 19).
Â
CENTURY CITY: Sixth-year head coach Brad Keller reached 100-career wins with the Trojans' 3-1 victory over Washington on Oct. 26. He is now 107-63 and is the fourth USC head coach ever to collect 100 or more wins in school history. Mick Haley (435), Chuck Erbe (310), and Lisa Love (205) are the others.
