USC Men’s Basketball Downs No. 6 Gonzaga in Charity Exhibition

The USC men's basketball team, led by grad transfer Terrance William II's 20-point performance, recorded a 96-93 victory over No. 6 Gonzaga in a charity exhibition game at Acrisure Arena on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Five Trojans hit the double digits during the exhibition, led by Williams' 20 points. Chibuzo Agbo scored 15 for Troy and led USC in rebounding with seven boards. Desmond Claude, Josh Cohen and Matt Knowling also hit double digits on Saturday, with Claude scoring 19 points and Cohen and Knowling each contributing 13.
The Zags, who debuted at No. 6 in the preseason Associate Press Top 25 poll, were led by Arkansas grad transfer Khalif Battle, as the 6-foot-5 guard scored 20 points against his former coach Eric Musselman.
The Trojans led for nearly 30 minutes of the game, outrebounded the Zags 34-32 and blocked five shots. USC, who won the battle in the paint 38-32, also held Gonzaga to just 40.9% from the three, as the Zags were 9-22.
A quick 10-0 scoring run put the Trojans up by double-digits early in the second half. USC's largest lead of the game came during the second half when the Trojans pulled ahead by 11 points to go up 61-50 with 10:54 remaining in the game.
USC scored 59 second half points to put the game away 96-93 and finish the preseason 2-0.

USC hosts its first home game of the 2024-25 season against UT-Chattanooga at the Galen Center on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The contest marks the beginning of a six-game homestand for Troy.
