USC Athletes Win 13 Events, Post 5 Trojan Top 10 Marks During Final Day Of Trojan Invitational

Chandler, Moody, Ojora, Poynter and the women’s 4x400m relay post Trojan all-time top 10 results
USC track and field athletes combined to win 13 events with Temi Ojora and Caisja Chandler becoming two-time event champions at the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational at Allyson Felix Field located at Loker Stadium on the USC campus. today (April 8).
Before the running events began 13 seniors were honored for their contributions to the USC track and field program (W - Breanna Bernard-Joseph, Caisja Chandler, Bailey Lear, Mihajla Milovanovic, Brooke Rodi and M – Austin Allen, Chris Borzor, Jovin Cheung-manager, Christian Johnson, Dylan Lange, Tade Ojora, Matthew Okonkwo, Bobby Poynter) and former coach Ron Allice was honored as the Trojan Invitational meet took on he and his wife Sharlene's name.

- One of the highlights of the day was the women's 100m dash race as Caisja Chandler and Samirah Moody went 1-2 and moved to third and fourth on USC's all-time list. Chandler won with a PR and Loker Stadium record-time of 10.99 (+1.1) to move into third on USC's all-time list. Her time is the fastest wind-legal time so far this season. Moody ran a PR of 11.02 (+1.1) to move into fourth on USC's all-time list and it is the second-fastest wind-legal time this season. Jassani Carter placed fifth in the 100m dash with a PR of 11.43 (+1.1), Chioma Okonkwo was sixth and tied her PR with a time of 11.56 (+1.1).
- The women's 4x100m relay team of Kimberly Harris, Caisja Chandler, Jassani Carter and Samirah Moody got the running portion of the meet off in style with a winning season-best time of 43.41. That time currently ranks eighth in the country.
- Yemi John won the women's 400m race with a time of 51.77, followed closely by Bailey Lear at 51.82. Gigi Maccagnini placed seventh with a time of 56.25 in her first collegiate 400m race.
- Jalaysiya Smith won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.20 (-0.9).
- Janiah Brown won the women's 800m race with a season-best time of 2:09.19. Alyssa Blockburger finished third in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:10.43 and Ashlee Gallegos finished fourth with a time of 2:15.61.
- Temi Ojora won the women's long jump with a final jump of 20-1.25/6.13m (+0.0). Placing second with her best jump also coming in the last round was Dominique Ruotolo, who had a jump of 19-9.50/6.03m (+0.0). Lauren Reed placed third in the long jump with a PR of 19-7.00/5.97m (-2.1) and Jada Foreman was fourth with a best jump of 18-9.25/5.72m (+0.8).
- Temi Ojora came back to win the women's triple jump with a PR of 44-9.75/13.66m (+1.6). That jump bettered her third-place standing on USC's all-time list. Dominique Ruotolo placed third with a jump of 42-7.50/12.99m (+0.8), Lauren Reed was fourth with a big PR of 41-2.50/12.56m (+0.0) and Jada Foreman was fifth with a season-best jump of 39-9.50/12/13m (+0.3).
- JC Stevenson won the men's long jump with a leap of 24-10.00/7.57m (+0.0) in his final attempt. Dallas Wise placed second with his best jump of 23-5.50/7.15m (+1.3) coming on his last attempt, also.
- Dallas Wise competed uncontested in the men's triple jump to win with a best leap of 49-1.25/14.97m (+0.8).
- Elias Gerald won the men's high jump competition with a season-best clearance of 6-10.75 (2.10m). Dallas Wise took third in the high jump with a clearance of 6-6.75 (2.00m).
- Jasmine Jones won the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 56.73 and Breanna Bernard-Joseph took second with a time of 62.60.
- Christine M. Mallard won the women's 200m race with a time of 23.36 (+3.2w), Chioma Okonkwo was second with a time of 23.65 (+2.6w), Kimberly Harris was fourth with a time of 23.69 (+3.2w) and Zion Corrales Nelson was seventh with a time of 24.09 (+2.6w). The first heat of the women's 200m, which featured Jassani Carter, Jan'Taijah Jones and USC Olympian Kendall Ellis, did not count as the finish line was actually set at 210 meters.
- Johnny Brackins Jr. won the men's 200m with a PR of 21.10 (+2.0). He had not run a 200m race since high school. Michael Phillippy was third with a PR of 21.27 and Bryce Brock was fourth with a PR of 21.33 (+1.2).
- The women's 4x400m relay team of Christine M. Mallard, Caisja Chandler, Bailey Lear and Jan'Taijah Jones placed second with the third-fastest time in the country this season of 3:26.96. Texas A&M won with a time of 3:26.58, the second-fastest time in the country this season. USC's time was more than five seconds faster than its previous best time this season and moved the group into fifth on USC's all-time 4x400m relay list.
- Bobby Poynter placed second in the men's John L. West 1500m race with a PR of 3:46.66. That time moved him to ninth on USC's all-time list. Josh Ligas placed fifth with a time of 3:54.88, Morgan Fierro was sixth with a time of 3:58.92, Alex Mainvielle was seventh in his first outdoor race for USC with a time of 4:01.50 and Kennie Arriola was eighth with a time of 4:03.11.
- Chris Borzor took second in the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.46 (-0.9), while Bryce Brock finished fourth with a PR of 10.55 (-0.9) and JC Stevenson was seventh with a PR of 10.66 (-0.9).
- Karlee Freeman took second in the women's shot put competition with a mark of 48-9.75 (14.88m) in her last attempt, two inches behind the winner. Summer Mosley, in her first collegiate shot put competition, had a PR of 47-11.75 (13.10m) to place fifth. Allie Jones took seventh with a best shot put of 40-0.75 (12.21m).
- Charlie Jeffreson took second in the men's 800m race with a season-best time of 1:49.78 and Josh Ligas finished fourth with a season-best time of 1:51.54.
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Johnny Brackins Jr., Charlie Jeffreson, Josh Ligas and Bobby Poynter finished third with a time of 3:13.13.
- Jacqueline Duarte took third with a time of 10:52.39 and Vienna Gao fifth with a time of 11:44.95 in the women's 3000m race.
- Dylan Gatua finished third with a time of 8:49.44 and Alex Mainvielle fourth with a time of 9:13.53 in the men's 3000m race.
- Allie Jones tied her personal best with a clearance of 5-7.00 (1.70m) to place fourth in the women's high jump. She was the top finisher among the collegians.
- Dylan Lange placed fourth in the men's javelin throw with a best mark of 126-10 (38.65m).
- Kamryn Elgersma placed sixth in her first home meet as a Trojan in the women's javelin throw with a best mark of 136-11 (41.72m). Annabel Doherty placed eighth with a best throw of 122-10 (37.44m).
- Olympian and former Trojan stars dominated the men's 400m race as Rai Benjamin won with a time of 44.21, the second-fastest time in the world this year, followed by Isaiah Jewett with a PR of 45.90. Johnny Blockburger placed eighth in his first 400m race of the season with a time of 47.90.
- The men's 4x100m relay team of Davonte Burnett, Bryce Brock, Chris Borzor and Johnnie Blockburger did not finish the race. Burnett, in his first race since injuring his hamstring at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships, pulled up just before making the first handoff.
