PLAYER NOTES:
- Austin Overn currently leads the nation with 10 triples, which is tied for the USC single season record set by Grant Green in 2007 (the NCAA record is 17). Overn is tied for the team lead with a .340 batting average and is 3rd in the Pac-12 with 51 hits. Overn was also a walk-on WR with the USC football team this past fall, but did not see time on the field.
- Cole Gabrielson has been USC's most consistent long ball threat, leading the team with 8 homers. His .597 slugging percentage is tops on the team and his 40 RBI are 3rd in the Pac-12.
- Johnny Olmstead's 28 RBI are second on the team, along with his 5 homers and 4 triples. Olmstead's 4 triples sit 3rd in the Pac-12 and 18th in the country.
- Tyler Stromsborg has won four of his last five starts, setting several career highs along the way. Stromsborg's best performance came on March 31 at Utah, when he tossed a complete-game shutout, becoming the first USC pitcher to do so since 2019. He also had a career best 10 strikeout day against Washington State on March 24. His 1.09 WHIP is 3rd in the Pac-12.
- Caden Aoki gave up three runs in his first outing of the season, but since then has given up just one earned run in his last six appearances. Over that stretch, Aoki has set or matched his career high in innings each of his last 4 starts, going 6.0 innings the last two Saturdays. He owns a 1.37 ERA in 26.1 innings pitched, striking out 23 batters to 5 walks.
- Garrett Clarke leads USC and is 5th in the Pac-12 with 5 saves on the year. In 17 appearances, he owns a 1.17 ERA with opponents hitting .158 against him.
- Blake Sodersten is averaging 10.27 strikeouts per 9 innings this season, the 7th best average in the conference.
- Kyle Wisch is 2nd on the team and 6th in the Pac-12 with 4 saves on the year. Wisch has given up just one earned run in his last 15 relief appearances lowering his ERA to 1.93 in 18.2 innings pitched.
TEAM NOTES:
- Prior to being swept at Oregon State, USC had won five straight series and six straight weekends (counting the SCCBC). Over that span USC won 16 of 19 games. Even with the sweep, the Trojans have won 17 of 22.
- USC posted back-to-back shutouts on the road at Utah, marking the first time since 2008 that a USC team has posted consecutive shutouts. The Trojans have 3 shutouts on the season, 3rd in the Pac-12 and 25th in the NCAA.
- USC's 22 triples lead the nation. Five Trojans have multiple triples, including Overn (10), Olmstead (4), Gabrielson (2), Martin-Grudzielanek (2) and Hedges (2).
- USC's 4.08 team ERA is 3rd in the Pac-12 and 25th in the nation. The Trojans' 7.75 hits allowed/9 are also 3rd in the conference and 25th in the NCAA, and their 1.27 WHIP is 3rd and 16th.
- USC is 17-4 at home this season and has not lost a game at Dedeaux Field since the opener against Stanford (3/11), a streak of 12 straight wins.
