USC Baseball Outpaced at No. 17 Auburn, 12-6
February 25, 2023 | Baseball
AUBURN, Ala. – The USC baseball team once again led early, but couldn't hang on late as No. 17 Auburn scored five runs in the sixth to take the second game of the series, 12-6.
The Trojans fall to 3-3 on the season with the loss, while Auburn improves to 5-1.
USC got a first inning home run from Johnny Olmstead and then scored two in the third thanks to some aggressive baserunning by Adrian Colon-Rosado and then an RBI single by Ryan Jackson. The lead would last until the fourth when Auburn put up three runs on four hits and an error to tie the game. The Tigers later got five runs on five hits and an error to break things open in the sixth.
The Trojans cut it to a two-run game with three in the sixth, getting a sac fly from Carson Wells and then a two-run double off the wall from Colon-Rosado. Wells' sac fly was just feet away from being a grand slam. Auburn answered, however, with both Bryson Ware and Cooper McMurray hitting two-run homers in the bottom half of the inning.
