USC Baseball Heads to Auburn for Three-Game Set

LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team hits the road sooner than expected this week as the Trojans' series against Auburn was changed from being played in Los Angeles to USC heading to Auburn, Ala. The Trojans play a three-game, non-conference set against the Tigers starting on Friday.

LAST WEEK: The Trojans went 3-1 through their first four games of the season, sweeping Marist at home before falling to UC Irvine on Tuesday. USC has scored at least seven runs in all four games this season, including putting up 17 runs on Saturday against Marist and 12 runs on Sunday.
SERIES VS. AUBURN: This is the first meeting between USC and Auburn in baseball. The last time USC traveled to SEC country for a series was in 2018 when the Trojans played a three-game set at Arkansas. Arkansas took 2-of-3 in the series.

- Nick Lopez led the Trojans offensively through the opening week, pacing the squad in hits (9), home runs (3), and doubles (3), and tying for the team lead in runs (7) and RBI (7). His 3 homers are 5th in the NCAA, 9 hits are 14th in the country and his 3 doubles are 18th. Lopez's 21 total bases are the 4th most in the NCAA.
- Cole Gabrielson posted the first two-homer game of the season for USC on Sunday against Marist.
- Blake Sodersten struck out 9 batters in 5.0 innings of relief work on Sunday against Marist.
- Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek wasted no time making his presence felt, posting 7 RBI on 2 doubles and a homer through his first 4 collegiate games. Martin-Grudzielanek hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the 6th inning of USC's season opener against Marist.
- Ryan Jackson is tied for the team lead with a .500 batting average, going 6-for-12 at the plate so far. Jackson has also drawn 7 walks (15th in the NCAA) and owns a .700 OBP (25th in the NCAA).
