AUBURN, Ala. – The USC baseball team played to a thrilling 12-12 tie in its series finale against No. 17 Auburn on Sunday afternoon, with the game ending after nine innings due to travel restrictions.

USC came back from a four-run deficit twice on the afternoon as the game was either tied or the lead changed hands five times. The Trojans move to 3-3-1 on the season, while Auburn moves to 5-1-1.

For the third time in the series, USC struck first, getting homers from Johnny Olmstead and Cole Gabrielson to take a 4-0 lead in the first. That advantage lasted until the second inning and by the fourth, Auburn led 8-4. The Trojans once again put a four on the board in the fourth, with USC loading the bases twice in the inning and both Nick Lopez and Adrian Colon-Rosado driving in a pair.

Auburn had the answer with their own four-run fifth inning, but USC chipped away in the top of the sixth with a run. The Trojans then scored three in the seventh to tie things up, getting a two-run single from Ryan Jackson and then a run-scoring double off the wall from Austin Overn.

The Trojans looked to have the winning run in the ninth, but it was called back on a play at the plate.

USC's pitching staff held firm over the final four innings, putting up four straight zeroes to end the contest. Three of those scoreless innings came from Garrett Clarke, including Clarke working out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to keep USC from losing.

COMING UP
