Trojans Drop Regular-Season Finale to Rival Bruins

The Women of Troy ended the regular season on a 3-0 loss to UCLA
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's volleyball team (17-13, 11-9 Pac-12) fell in three sets (25-22, 25-17, 28-26) to crosstown rival UCLA (18-11, 13-7) at Galen Center to conclude the regular season on Friday, Nov. 29.

- Sr. OH Khalia Lanier led the Trojans with 11 kills and had four digs and a service ace.
- So. setter Raquel Lázaro put up 27 assists and had 10 digs for her 20th double-double of the season (32nd career). She also had five kills (0e, 8att, .625) and three blocks.
- Jr. OH Brooke Botkin returned to action after missing matches due to injury and added 10 kills (3e, 23att, .304) with six digs, three assists, and two blocks.
- Fr. OH Emilia Weske scored on nine kills (2e, 23att, .304) with five blocks and three digs.
- For the Bruins, Mac May led with 17 kills (3e, 33att, .424) and had a double-double with 14 digs. Cali Thompson had 20 assists and six digs. Jenny Mosser scored nine kills (4e, 20att, .250) with three blocks.
- UCLA broke the eighth and final tie of the opening frame to run out the block on the Trojans' comeback bid for a 25-22 win. The Bruins had five blocks in the first set and held USC to a .027 hitting percentage despite six kills from Lanier.
- USC struggled on defense in the second set and allowed the Bruins to hit .457 with 18 kills. UCLA also out-dug USC, 21-11, in the second frame to walk away with a 25-17 win in a set where it led by as many as 10 points.
- The Trojans opened up a five-point lead in the third set and but UCLA stayed the course and went ahead by as many as three points. USC forced a tie at 19-all and then had set point at 24-23, but the Bruins capitalized on Trojan errors to complete a 28-26 victory and deliver a 3-0 sweep over the Women of Troy.
- USC awaits its postseason fate and will find out its NCAA tournament draw on Sunday evening (Dec. 1).
- USC fell to 59-55 all-time against UCLA and was swept in the season series for the first time since 2016.
- The Trojans lost in three sets for the first time this season and played in only their fifth three-set match all season (4-1).
- The Women of Troy fell to 169-42 (.804) all-time at the Galen Center and lost to the Bruins for the seventh time there.
- USC celebrated the careers of seniors Jenna Adams, Emily Baptista, Jasmine Gross, Khalia Lanier, and Raegan LeGrand in pre-match ceremonies.
