USC Women Take Down Oregon State in Four Sets

Senior outside hitter Khalia Lanier racked up 21 kills and nine digs in a win over the Beavers
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The USC women's volleyball team (10-7, 4-3 Pac-12) defeated Oregon State (8-10, 2-5) in four sets (21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22) at Gill Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 18.

- Sr. OH Khalia Lanier scored 23 points with 21 kills (4e, 58att) on a .293 hitting percentage and added nine digs, two blocks, and a service ace. It was Lanier's fourth straight match with over 20 kills and her 13th in double-digit kills this season.Â
- Sr. MB Jasmine Gross tallied 11 kills (1e, 16att) and hit .562 in the match with five blocks (one solo).
- So. setter Raquel Lázaro recorded 47 assists and registered her 11th double-double of the season (23rd career) with 13 digs.
- Fr. OPP Emilia Weske recorded her first-career double-double with 11 kills (2e, 24att, .375) and 12 digs.
- Defensively, Sr. libero Raegan LeGrand led USC with 23 digs and freshman defender Keila Barra had a season-high nine.Â
- For the Beavers, Amy Underdown led the offense with 12 kills and added nine digs and three service aces. Grace Massey led the defense with 18 digs had two aces.Â
- USC led by as many as four in the opening set. The Trojans earned 15 kills and hit .394 in the first frame while OSU hit .294 with 14 kills, but the Beavers won the serve-and-pass game where eight points went their way in a 25-21 win.
- The Trojans evened the score in the second set on the power of five kills from Lanier and four from freshman OH Kalen Owes. USC also had three blocks and a pair of aces en route to a 25-19 win.
- Lanier poured in six more kills and was joined by Gross and Owes who had four each in the third set. The Trojans won, 25-18, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. USC picked up 23 digs in the third set led by LeGrand's 11-dig effort.
- The Trojans fell behind by three points twice in the fourth, but used a 6-2 run to flip the lead to USC's side of the board at 20-19. The Beavers made several errors before Weske closed it down with her final kill of the match.
- The Women of Troy stay in the Beaver State to face Oregon (6-10, 2-5) on Sunday (Oct. 20) at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. The match will be shown live on Pac-12 LA and Oregon at noon PT.
- USC improved to 56-9 all-time against Oregon State (27-6 in Corvallis). It was the Trojans' eighth straight win over OSU.
- The Trojans improved to 54-11 all-time in the state of Oregon.
- For the third match in a row, USC had 10 or fewer players available for the match; nine total.
