Trojans Fall 8-4 to Cougars on the Road

PULLMAN, Wash. – The USC baseball team fell 8-4 to Washington State on Saturday, setting up a rubber game between the teams tomorrow.
USC scored four late runs, but couldn't come all the way back as they fall to 22-23 overall and 10-16 in Pac-12 play. The Cougars move to 15-26-1 overall and 7-15-1 in conference action.
The Trojans fell behind early and couldn't recover, giving up two runs in each of the first three innings. The Cougars eventually scored in five of the first six innings to build and 8-0 lead they would never relinquish.
USC scored three times in the eighth, getting an RBI double by Trevor Halsema to kick things off. Stephen Dubb and Dillon Paulson also drove in runs in the eighth, and Chase Bushor plated a run with two outs in the ninth, but that was it for the Trojans.
USC had 11 hits in the game to 12 for the Cougars, but left eight runners on base.
