The Trojans got career highs of 29 kills and 32.5 points from junior outside hitter Khalia Lanier in a win over Arizona State
LOS ANGELES – The 15th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (13-5, 5-2 Pac-12) went the distance to get a 3-2 win (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) over No. 25 Arizona State (13-7, 4-4) at Galen Center on Friday, Oct. 12.

KEY PLAYERS
- Jr. OH Khalia Lanier set new career marks in kills (29), attacks (73) and points (32.5) to lead the Women of Troy in the win. Lanier had eight digs, three blocks, two assists, and a pair of service aces.
- So. OH Brooke Botkin had 22 kills (9e, 59att, .220) with 15 digs for her seventh double-double of the season (eighth career).
- Fr. setter Raquel Lázaro put up a career-high 59 assists and had 21 digs for her ninth double-double of the year.
- Jr. OPP Emily Baptista scored 12 kills (3e, 37att, .243) with four digs.
- Defensively, Jr. MB Jasmine Gross had seven blocks (one solo) and contributed eight kills (2e, 23att, .261). Sr. libero Victoria Garrick tied for team-lead with 21 digs.
- For the Sun Devils, Claire Kovensky had 17 kills (4e, 39att, .333), Ivana Jeremic scored 15 kills (7e, 46att, .174) and Alyse Ford had 12 (7e, 47att, .106). Nicole Peterson had 29 assists and 23 digs for the double-double.
- The Trojans struggled out of the gate and never truly threatened the Sun Devils until the end of the first set. ASU closed with a .296 hitting percentage while the Trojans were .114 in a 25-23 opening-frame loss.
- A resurgent USC came out and got eight kills from Lanier in the second set en route to a 25-21 win. The Trojans hit .340 and had 20 digs to even the match at one set apiece.
- The Women of Troy continued to roll in the third and had six kills from Lanier, five from Botkin, and four from Baptista in a 25-18 win. The Trojans hit .304 and had an 88-percent sideout rate to go up, 2-1, in the match.
- USC went in front, 19-15, over Arizona State in the third, but the Sun Devils had other plans and used a 10-4 run to wrestle the set away from the Trojans. ASU had five blocks in the frame to keep USC down at a .146 hitting rate.
- Botkin and Lanier each scored five kills apiece in the final set and helped the Trojans hit .367 with a 100-percent sideout rate (9-for-9). The Devils were within three on an 8-5 switch, but the Trojans stepped on the gas to finish ASU off.
- USC wraps a four-match home stretch with a bout against No. 23 Arizona (14-5, 3-4 Pac-12) on Sunday (Oct. 14) at 1 p.m. PT at Galen Center. The match will be shown live on Pac-12 Los Angeles and Pac-12 Arizona.
- USC improves to 70-13-1 all-time against Arizona State and has won seven in a row over the Sun Devils.
- The Trojans moved to 6-1 at Galen Center this season and to 157-33 all-time in the arena.
- The Women of Troy improved to 4-1 in five-set matches this season (2-0 at home).
- Arizona State was the 10th ranked opponent the Trojans faced in 2018. USC improved to 6-4 against ranked foes.
