No. 19 Trojans Bull Over Bulldogs For 3-0 Sweep

USC outside hitters Khalia Lanier and Alyse Ford scored 10 kills apiece to lead the Women of Troy
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The 19th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (7-2) posted a second consecutive 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-21, 25-12) with a win over Yale (4-2) in the Trojans' final match at the UCSB Thunderdome Classic at the Thunderdome on Saturday, Sept. 9. It was USC's third straight win and the team's third clean sweep of the season.
Sophomore outside hitter Khalia Lanier (10k, 4e, 28att, .214) and junior outside hitter Alyse Ford (10k, 1e, 16att, .562) each scored 10 kills to power the USC offense. Lanier also had seven digs and two blocks. The Trojan defense was led by junior libero Victoria Garrick who had 14 digs to lead all players. Senior opposite hitters Niki Withers (7k) and Brittany Abercrombie (6k) also contributed to the USC offense which finished with a .284 hitting percentage (42k, 15e, 95att).
Kelley Wirth led all players with 11 kills (7e, 33att, .121) for the Bulldogs. Kathryn Attar led her team with nine digs and added five kills.
The Trojans trailed just once in the entirety of the match and finished with a 70-to-49 edge in sideout percentage. In another block-heavy match, USC had the advantage by one block, 10-9.
USC is back in action for a cross-country trip to College Park, Md., next week where it will face Oklahoma and tournament host Maryland in the Maryland Challenge at the Xfinity Pavilion on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 14-15). Following the tournament, the Trojans will return home to begin Pac-12 play.
