LOS ANGELES--Senior guard Gary Johnson, who led the Trojans in scoring average (13.3), assists (100), steals (57) and minutes (823) in 1998, was named the Most Valuable Player of the USC men's basketball team at the annual awards banquet Monday night (March 9) at Town and Gown on campus.
Johnson, who scored 59 points this past week in USC's upset victories over Arizona and Arizona State, also received the Best Defensive Player Award.
Sophomore forward Jarvis Turner was named the Most Inspirational Player, while freshman guard Kevin Augustine received the 110% Effort Award.
