Danyelle Grant enters her first season as assistant coach for USC women's basketball, bringing in six years experience at Utah, where she helped the Utes to three postseason appearances and its first 20-win season under head coach Lynne Roberts. With Grant's tutelage, the Utes also set a program record for 3-pointers made in a single season, and she helped develop Utah's point guards into some of the top assist providers in the conference. Prior to her time in Salt Lake City, Grant spent one season at TCU as video coordinator and a combined four seasons in an assistant coach role at Fresno State (2012-14) and Utah State (2010-12).
"I have long admired the work that Danyelle has done in our game, and I'm so excited to bring her talents back to her hometown of LA," Gottlieb said of Grant. "Dany has earned a reputation of a strong work ethic, integrity, exceptional relationships and basketball acumen with coaches and players across the basketball community. She is going to be a game changer for the future of Trojan women's basketball, and I'm so looking forward to working with her every day."
A 2009 Utah State grad, Grant (maiden name is Snelgro) was the school's first all-conference First Team honoree. She remains ranked third all-time in assists (336) and steals (216) at Utah State, and she's eighth all-time in career points (1,045). A native of Alta Dena, Calif., Grant also as a pro in Finland in 2009-10.
