Fagan looks to make her Opals debut with Australia in July
LOS ANGELES — USC women's basketball freshman Sitaya Fagan has been selected to the Australian Senior National Team, the Opals, ahead of upcoming competition later this summer.
Fagan joined the Trojans in January 2026 as an early enrollee and has trained with the program ahead of her freshman debut this fall. Widely regarded as one of Australia's top young prospects, the 6-foot-2 forward has represented Australia across multiple junior national teams and international competitions.
The Aussie is no stranger to the pro level, as a teenager she dominated the NBL1 East for the Centre of Excellence and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2025.
Fagan's junior career includes gold medals at the 2022 FIBA U15 Women's Oceania Championship, 2023 FIBA U16 Women's Asia Championship and 2025 FIBA U17 Women's Oceania Cup. Fagan also became the first Australian player to receive 27 NCAA Division I scholarship offers before committing to USC.
Fagan's debut is expected to provide a spark for the Opals as the national program prepares for the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, set to take place Sept. 4–13, 2026.
The Melbourne series against China will also give Fagan the opportunity to make her senior national team debut in front of a home crowd at John Cain Arena.
