THIS SEASON: Sophomore Jake Grosser is a talented freestyle sprinter who is also strong in the 100y backstroke. He looks to make a major leap in production in his second year with the team. He is USC[apos]s top returning swimmer in the 50y and 100y free and is a key on relays.
2008: Grosser was a consolation finalist in three races at the Pac-10 Championships as a 2008 freshman, finishing 10th in the 100y back (49.45), 14th in the 50y free (20.39) and 16th in the 100y free (45.82) ... At the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, Grosser was 95th in the 50m free (23.59).
HIGH SCHOOL: Grosser prepped at St. Charles (Ill.) East High, where he was an 11-time prep All-American and All-State (four times each as a freshman and senior) performer and a 12-time All-Sectional swimmer... He was a five-time state runner up, including twice each in the 50y and 100y free, and won those events twice each at sectional meets ... As a 2006 senior, he swam the third fastest time in state history in the 50y free and as part of the 200y free relay ... At the 2007 U.S. Spring Nationals, he was 36th in the 50m free (24.42), 38th in the 100m free (53.54), 60th in the 100m fly (1:00.34) and 76th in the 200m free (2:01.96) ... Was a 10-time junior national finalist in addition to his senior national and U.S. Open experience ... Earned NCSA All-American (west) honors and was a four-time NCSA All-American meet champion (50y free, 200y and 400y free relays and 200y medley relays) ... Was an eight-time Illinois senior state champion and a six-time sectional champion ... He was also a two-year member of St. Charles East[apos]s water polo team, earning All-Sectional first team honors as a senior, when he scored the most goals in the sectional tournament.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 22, 1989 ... Plans to major in business administration ... Parents William and Jane Grosser both swam at Illinois State.
