THIS YEAR: Sophomore Kenya Payne is in her first season as a hurdler on the USC track and field team.
2021: Payne opted out of the 2021 season due to COVID-19.
HIGH SCHOOL: Payne is a 2019 graduate from Long Beach Poly in Long Beach, Calif. She has a 300m hurdles personal best of 42.30. She ran the anchor leg on Poly's 4x400m relay which won the 2019 California state title with a time of 3:46.23. She graduated with High Honors and earned a Pursuit of Excellence Medallion.
PERSONAL: Kenya was born on December 19, 2001 in Long Beach, Calif…Her parents are Kimberly Ball and Kenyan Payne and she has five siblings, Kennisha, Kenyan, Kymber, Ajaon and Kemian...She says her hobby is shopping...Lists Jhene Aiko as her favorite musical artist, Gabrielle Union as her favorite actress and Pitch Perfect as her favorite movie...Says Allyson Felix is her sports hero because she fought for women's rights...Her favorite foods are Chicken Alfredo and seafood...Someday would like visit Jamaica and Bora Bora...After USC she would like to run professionally, attend grad school and become an OBGYN...She is a Health and Human Science major at USC.
