Bio
BREAKDOWN:
D.J. Haley is a 7-foot, 250-pound center who will have one season of eligibility remaining after graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from VCU this summer and transferring to USC. He is an athletic and agile bigman who can run the court. He played in 102 games for the Rams, making 48 starts.
2012-13:
Haley appeared in 29 games (4 starts) and averaged 1.9 points and 1.9 rebounds while playing eight minutes per game. He was second on the team with 18 blocked shots. Scored a season-high six points and had a season-high six rebounds in a 73-54 win vs. Alabama on Dec. 15. Also scored six points in a 90-63 win at Duquesne on Jan 19.
2011-12:
As a sophomore he started 33 of VCU[apos]s 36 games and averaged 3.2 points and 3.9 rebounds while playing 15.4 minutes per game. Registered his first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. Towson on Feb. 8...the 10 points and 11 rebounds were career highs. Had a total of five games with seven or more rebounds.
2010-11:
Haley saw action in 37 of the Rams[apos] 40 games and made 11 starts. Scored his first career points in an 89-85 win vs. UCLA in the NIT Preseason Tip-off on Nov. 26. Made his first career start in a win at Wichita State on Feb. 18. Had a career-high five blocks in a 64-60 loss at Drexel on Feb. 23. Started 11 of the final 12 games for VCU. Started against USC in the NCAA First Four game in Dayton, Ohio which VCU won 59-46. Matched a season high with six points in the 94-76 win vs. Purdue on March 20 which propelled the Rams to the Sweet 16. Also scored six points vs. George Mason on Feb. 15. Had a season-best six rebounds in a 62-60 win vs. Drexel on March 5.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Haley attended Palmdale HS where he averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as a senior. Haley maintained a 4.0 GPA. Was nominated to play in the McDonald[apos]s All-America game.
PERSONAL:
Haley was born on May 24, 1992 in Palmdale, Calif. D.J. stands for Darrell, Jr. His father Darrell played four years at California from 1980-83 and his mother worked at UCLA for 25 years. D.J. is one of five siblings with brothers Tony and Donald (USC graduate) and sisters Krystal and Jessica. Haley is a talented musician with skills on the saxophone and piano.
