He played with the SoCal Fire, an independent team that reached the championship semifinals of the 2006 NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas...batted .228 with one home runs, 10 RBI and 10 stolen bases. 2006
As a 2006 freshman, Torres made six starts and appeared in 15 games...batted .231 for the season (6-for-26) with four RBI...his first collegiate hit came on Feb. 24 at Hawai[apos]i where he hit a single...went 1-for-2 with an RBI on Feb. 25 at Hawai[apos]i...made his first collegiate start on March 7 against UC Irvine...had a 2-for-3 day with two RBI, a walk and a stolen base on May 20 at Wichita State.
