After a few seasons away from the diamond, McCaffery returned to the program and posted a 7.36 ERA in four appearances...in 3 2/3 innings, he allowed three runs and four hits with three walks and two strikeouts with opponents batting .286 against him.

In his first action with the baseball team, he made eight appearances and went 2-0 with a 10.38 ERA for the Trojans...in 8 2/3 innings, he allowed 17 hits and 10 earned runs with eight walks and seven strikeouts...threw one no-hit inning on March 1 to get the win against Southern at the MLB Urban Academy...earned his first collegiate win on Feb. 24 with 2 2/3 scoreless innings at Florida International, allowing one walk and striking out four...spent one season as a walk-on quarterback for the football team.
High School
He was a two-sport star at St. Ignatius High in San Francisco and played for baseball coach Ted Turkington...three-time All-WCAL league selection for baseball...batted .420 with four home runs, 20 RBI and a 1.40 ERA last season as a junior, earning All-WCAL first team honors...selected to the California North/South Game and earned the honor as the top pitcher at the Bay Area World Series...also played on the St. Ignatius High football team as the starting quarterback, earning 2006 WCAL Player of the Year honors...passed for 300 yards with three touchdowns in a CCS semifinal game...rated No. 37 in the California Baseball Zone Northern California Top 50.
